beta-readers

Ever wondered how do non-native English speakers get away with good grammar and spelling? Well here's your answer: beta-readers!

A small definition by wikipedia:

"A beta reader (or betareader, or beta) is a person who reads a work of fiction with a critical eye, with the aim of improving grammar, spelling, characterization, and general style of a story prior to its release to the general public."

So, here's a list of beta-reader sites. Don't forget that your average fan fiction archive can have beta-readers of is own! So take advantage of that!

The Beta reader directory for Harry Potter fanfiction. Probably the best site for your beta-reading needs. You don't need to register the site, andbesides that you can look for a beta for the exact type of your storie, and what type of correction or advices you want from her/him!

The only inconvenience about livejournal is that you have to register the site to post on the beta-readers communities. I'm not going to explain how livejournal works here. If you already know then go to the sidebar at the right and search for "beta" interests. You will find nearly 200 communities who have an handful of people willing to improve your fics.

Society for the Promotion of Excellent Writing. You'll find beta-readers AND excellent articles on how to improve your writing skills.
